Social Events

Below is some old information from 2006 - you can expect more of the fun and games of WAMSS' social side to show itself in 2007.

Fresher Welcome
Following on from Fresher Camp, the Fresher Welcome was held at JC Smith pavilion to promote cohesion between the first year students and to also expose WAMSS to the first years that weren’t able to attend Fresher Camp. It was an extremely successful evening, attended by 140 freshers and senior students keen to welcome them in fine form.

ImageWAMSS Rivercruise
The WAMSS Rivercruise is one of the highlights of the WAMSS calendar and this year was definitely one to remember. This year’s theme of “In Your Wildest Dreams” lead to many a fireman and scantily clad genie coming out of the woodwork to enjoy the night, and proved that there is nothing you can’t illustrate with body paint.

Cocktail Party
This event brings the added element of clothing to the WAMSS social calendar, giving medical students the chance to dress to impress. Record attendance from the clinical years proved that you don’t have to be a pre-clinical to know how to have a good time and that the older years were far from done when it came to partying hard.

Endasemesta I
As the end of semester closed in, WAMSS took the chance to host its members at the Captain Stirling Hotel, serving as both a thankyou for the semester just passed and a pre-Convention party for the readily approaching AMSA Convention.

Hunt Cup
Second semester began strongly with the “Around The World” party following the WAMSS Hunt Cup cross-country race. Allen Park provided the ideal setting as medical students from Mexico, Spain, Greece, Italy, France, Japan and even Uzbekistan came to celebrate their multi-cultural roots and cool off after the race over a drink or two.

Med/Law
As the semester kicked on, medical students and law students join forces to prove that long degrees don’t mean that you can’t party hard. The event was held at the Cottesloe Hotel and although it wasn’t as well attended as was expected by both WAMSS and Blackstone, those that came, came with game. Greater communication between the two Faculty societies this year has seen plans established to expand this show next year, giving it a much larger on-campus presence in 2007.

Endasemesta II
The final End of Semester show was held in November and was a send off worthy of the year gone by. The WAMSS website has a gallery full of photos of Endasemsta II .

Med Dinner

ImageThe WAMSS Medical Dinner is the premier social events of the year. In 2006, over 850 medical students and partners gathered in the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre to celebrate another fantastic year. The theme ("Midnight in Manhattan") brought out the best in both guys and girls as they glammed up for the occasion.
