The National Leadership Development Seminar (NLDS) held each year in the political heart of Australia, Canberra, is AMSA’s premier academic event. NLDS is a unique forum, which provides passionate, enthusiastic and engaged medical students with a platform to discuss ideas, network and workshop their ideas into advocacy campaigns and national projects for tomorrow.

This year we our program centres on ‘Empowering the Individual’; to develop promising students’ leadership potential and empower them to create the change they hope for in the world. There are reserved places for each medical school, as well as for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical students, and for medical students from New Zealand and the Asia-pacific. Through this we will ensure that AMSA up-skills regional leaders to become better advocates and leaders within the medical community.
In 2016, 92 delegates from around the country and region will be selected to undertake an academic program with a broad range of plenaries, panel discussions and workshops that will develop delegates’ understanding of leadership and give them the skills to make a difference, whatever their passion.
The selection process for NLDS2016 consists of a set of selection criteria to be released on Friday 12th of February, focusing around students’ motivations and desire to engender change within their communities. Information of registration prices will be released when applications open via https://www.facebook.com/NLDSAustralia/.
